how to build a new relationship from an old relationship???

its funny how when you had a relationship with someone and they move and the book was never closed how awkward it is to just "be friends". why is there not a complete understanding or its a one sided communication? when one person moves on and the "friendship" continues, the other person must be respectful of the other person's decision to get into a new relationships. all you want for the other person is to be happy but at the same time you wish you were the one that they can be happy with.

to build these "new relationships from old relationships" its a daunting task of balancing mixed emotions that exist from old feelings and having to force yourself to have new feelings. their has to be understanding on both sides of the relationships and respect of the other persons decision.

a story: one of my friends was dating a guy for a while and they decided to start talking because of multiple reasons but decided to keep the relationship open. so they continued talking and being "friends". well the guy gets a girlfriend and tells the girl all about her and really wants him to meet her and all that other stuff. while on a trip the guy and girl saw each other and the girl thought she was going to meet the girlfriend but she didn't come to meet the girl. during the time on the trip the girl and guy's obvious connection illuminated and anyone could see that they were meant to be together. after the trip the guy and girl texted like normal and continued back on the normal relationship. soon after their relationship continued the girl began to recall a lot of old memories and the memories of seeing him on the trip. she sent him a text message just to remind him of the memories nothing seriously meant behind it. he returns her text with a phone call and ask her not to send text messages about their relationships out of respect to his girlfriend.

so the question is how does a person deal with the new relationship that must form from the old relationship that once was???

  1. That's a good question. I got out of a relationship back in November. We decided that the distance wasn't working, with me being in school. So we split. And now its hard to be cordial, when we run into each other, out with other people.

But the only way it can work, is when both people have moved on. There will always be some type of residual feelings, but things will be okay.

    "how can i let go"

And in answer to this post... you know how i feel about your friend's situation. Just tell her that what God has for them is for them. Sometimes you have to let someone go in order for them to realize where they need to be and sometimes we use people as our crutch. So maybe the break from the guy is good for your friend. Or maybe its time that she let go, really let go so that she can find someone new and make new memories...

    Memories that they can share.
